Shri Anurag Singh Thakur and Shri Yogi Adityanath launched the logo, mascot, torch, anthem and jersey of Khelo India University Games 2022 in Lucknow today

The Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Shri Anurag Singh Thakur launched the official logo, mascot, torch, anthem and jersey of Khelo India University Games Uttar Pradesh 2022 with great enthusiasm on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima in Lucknow.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Yogi Adityanath was also present on the occasion.

On this occasion Shri Anurag Singh Thakur said, “Today I am very satisfied that as per the vision of our Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Khelo India campaign has taken the form of a revolution and today this revolution is happening in India’s largest state, Uttar Pradesh. has reached the state. Varsity athletes who participate in these sports will find that sports in themselves are an important way to learn life’s toughest lessons. Khelo India platform is concerned with excellence in sports and creation of disciplined, dedicated and duty-oriented youth in the service of the nation. Under the effective leadership of Yogi ji, I am sure Uttar Pradesh is all set to present the best Khelo India game ever.

Addressing the gathering, Shri Yogi Adityanath said, “Today there has been a massive change in the environment of Uttar Pradesh and the perception of the state, with peace and rule of law, which is why sports and sportsmen are flourishing here. have been I welcome all the athletes, coaches, officials and support staff participating in the 3rd Khelo India University Games Uttar Pradesh 2022 and wish them a pleasant stay in the state. I am sure our team will ensure best conditions, sports facilities and sports infrastructure to make this event a memorable one. India will play, India will grow.

“The Khelo India initiative also remains important to the sports ecosystem of the country. Just a few weeks back, we celebrated 5 years of Khelo India. The landscape of Indian sports has changed drastically in the last 5 years. There are many Khelo India athletes who have been included in the Specific Target Olympic Podium Scheme on the basis of their performances over the years and are today making the country proud at various international events. The synergy between these competitions and the sports ecosystem created through various schemes has really helped our athletes move smoothly from one level of competition to another.”

Inspired by the ideology of skill, policy and patience, the games will officially start from 25th May till 3rd June 2023 in various cities of Uttar Pradesh. A spectacular opening ceremony filled with viewing pleasure of anamorphic visuals with an unprecedented grand launch and 3D display ; great launch; A technological marvel that dazzled and impressed through some amazing cultural performances. The launch showcased a vast virtual world of technology, packed with entertainment.

The Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh also flagged off four torch relays , which will pass through West , East , Central and Bundelkhand regions of India’s largest state during the next 20 days. The Chief Minister along with the Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports and Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Singh Thakur was also the chief guest of the two-hour long programme .

Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Mr. Girish Chandra Yadav , Sports Minister , Government of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Daya Shankar Singh, Transport Minister (Independent Charge), Government of Uttar Pradesh , Mr. Navneet Sehgal, Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Government of Uttar Pradesh. , IAS, Smt. Ekta Vishnoi, Deputy Director General, Sports Authority of India , Dr. Pankaj Mittal, General Secretary, AIU, Shri Sanjay Saraswat, Executive Director, Sports Authority of India and many eminent personalities .

Shri Girish Chandra Yadav said: “Uttar Pradesh is fast emerging as a sports loving state and will soon be known as the ‘Sports Hub’ of the country. We look forward to hosting the Khelo India University Games 2022 under the guidance of Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath ji and achieving another milestone in the sporting journey of the state. I wish all the best to all the participants and organisers.”

The opening ceremony began at 9.00 am with a welcome address by the Sports Minister of Uttar Pradesh Shri Girish Chandra Yadav before the logo of the University Games was launched by the Chief Minister. This was followed by Shri Anurag Thakur releasing the anthem of the Games titled “Khelo India – Har Dil Mein Desh” composed and sung by renowned singer Palash Sen.

He then launched the official jersey of the University Games , which was worn by prominent players from Uttar Pradesh like Lalit Upadhyay , Sudha Singh and Divya Kakran and displayed it confidently on stage.

On this occasion, the mascot of the University Games, Jitu Barasingha , an exotic lifelike state animal and a symbol of “Pride of Pride” , was unveiled.

The final unveiling was the University Games torch, which was brought on stage one by one by the stalwarts of Uttar Pradesh – Lalit Upadhyay , Vandana Kataria , Sudha Singh , Vijay Yadav , Danish Mujtaba. After the torches were handed over by the sports stalwarts, the Chief Minister lit them on the anamorphic screen and proceeded at a canter to the parking area to flag off the four torches relay in four directions.

The official logo of Khelo India University Games 2022 Uttar Pradesh represents the rich heritage of India’s largest state Uttar Pradesh. The insignia represents the rich traditional and historical heritage of the state, which has been the basis of its development in all aspects such as education , infrastructure and sports.

Mascot Jeetu represents Barasingha. It is an amazing mammal, with a powerful physique and remarkable speed. It displays skill , ethics and grit in its nature and epitomizes grace and finesse, which truly represents the spirit of Khelo India University Games, Uttar Pradesh. It showcases the power and richness of the cultural heritage of Uttar Pradesh.

As the official mascot of the Khelo India University Games , Jeetu will serve as a source of enthusiasm , drive fan engagement and build team spirit throughout the competition. Fans from Uttar Pradesh are looking forward to seeing Jitu across the state , as he will be used to attract new fans and encourage more people to take up the sport. The mascot will also help promote the team’s sponsorships , merchandise and other marketing activities , making it an essential part of the event’s success.

Jaya and Vijay, the mascots of the last Khelo India Games, welcomed Jitu on the stage.

‘ Shakti ‘ , the official torch of Khelo India University Games , Uttar Pradesh , is not only a symbol of its heritage and spirit , but also a living entity that is full of energy. In order to inspire each athlete to move forward towards their ultimate goal, the river Ganga is engraved with ‘ Shakti ‘ and inscribed on it is an upward pointing , forward looking arrow depicting the glorious past and future of Uttar Pradesh Celebrates. The light-giving core of Shakti is also inscribed with peacock feathers and lotus petals , indicating her calm energy that can move mountains and is a powerful source of inspiration and willpower.

Khelo India University Games

This 12-day KIUG UP 2022 will be organized in the state capital Lucknow apart from Varanasi , Noida and Gorakhpur. The shooting competition will be held at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Delhi. The Kabaddi competition will start on May 23 , 2023 in Noida while some other events will also start on May 24, 2023 at different places .

The University Games , which will officially take place from May 25 to June 03 , 2023, will see over 4000 athletes from 200 Indian universities competing in 21 sporting events. The opening ceremony will be held on May 25 , 2023 in Lucknow. The University Games will raise the bar of excellence and exemplify the true spirit of sportsmanship , competition at the highest level of courage and pride , sportsmanship and respect for victory.
