In a surprising turn of events, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured its first victory in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections without even going to polls. Mukesh Dalal, the BJP candidate contesting from Surat constituency in Gujarat, has been declared the winner as all opposing candidates have withdrawn their nominations or faced rejections.

The Congress candidate’s nomination form was rejected by the Returning Officer due to discrepancies in proposers’ signatures, clearing the path for Dalal’s uncontested victory. Additionally, eight other candidates chose to withdraw from the race, leaving Dalal as the sole contender for the coveted seat.

This unexpected win has sparked congratulatory messages from BJP leaders, with Gujarat BJP chief CR Paatil extending his best wishes to Dalal for his unopposed election to the Surat Lok Sabha seat.
