Goa, April 3, 2024: In a significant step towards modernizing travel experiences, Manohar International Airport in Goa, developed and operated by GMR Goa International Airport Ltd. (GGIAL), a subsidiary of GMR Airports Infrastructure Ltd (GIL), is proud to introduce the Digi Yatra system for air travelers.

The Digi Yatra system, initiated by the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) and DigiYatra Foundation, is aimed at fostering a digitally empowered society by providing a Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel (BEST) experience. Leveraging Facial Recognition System (FRS) technology, passengers can now experience a contactless identification process at key checkpoints such as Airport Entry, Security Check, and Boarding Gate. This innovative system eliminates the need for physical documents like ID proofs, streamlining the boarding process and reducing wait times to less than 3 seconds per passenger at each touchpoint.

Mr. RV Sheshan, CEO of GGIAL, expressed his delight at the implementation of this cutting-edge facility, stating, “We are thrilled to announce the launch of Digi Yatra at Manohar International Airport. With this, our airport joins the prestigious league of selected few airports across the nation equipped with this technology. We have integrated Digi Yatra at three key touchpoints: the forecourt, pre-security hold area, and boarding gate number 10. Passengers flying with any airline from our airport can avail of this facility. Manohar International Airport remains committed to providing world-class facilities and services that enhance our passengers’ journey experience. We will continue to adopt advanced technologies to improve airport operations and passenger satisfaction.”
