In a meeting with Canadian Minister Ms. Marie Claude Bibeau , Mr. Tomar said that we value a long-standing and friendly relationship marked by shared values ​​of democracy , expanded economic engagement , regular high-level discussions and long-term people-to-people ties. Economic relations are also increasing continuously. Canada has huge agricultural production and agro – technological advancements , which offer potential for cooperation with India. Both sides have been holding discussions on agriculture and agro – technology partnership from time to time and to resolve market access issues through technical meetings. Mr. Tomar baby corn from India , Thanked Canada for providing market access for maize and bananas , adding that India is committed to ensuring food security both domestically as well as globally.

In a meeting with Food and Agriculture Organization ( FAO ) Director General Mr. Qu Dongyu, Mr. Tomar said that India has had a long and valuable partnership with FAO since the country began its work in 1948 . With the looming effects of climate change and the emergence of new pest species, FAO’s work has become more complex , making it an important knowledge partner to assist countries in making informed decisions. India adds value to FAO’s work , providing technical expertise to other countries , as well as serving as an important source of development experiences. India will continue to work closely with FAO to achieve the desired results and work towards the common goal of achieving food security and sustainable agriculture.

In conversation with Mr. Alvaro Lario, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development ( IFAD ) , Mr. Tomar said that India is committed to its focused strategic objective of collaborating with IFAD , which ensures that small farmers’ produce , Agricultural production systems should be profitable , sustainable and adaptive .
