Goa’s picturesque landscape, adorned with palm trees, is enriched with natural beauty. Taking a step further, the Government of Goa is now focusing on empowering artisans and small businesses to embrace sustainability and harness the incredible potential of coconut coir.
The ingenuity of Goa’s coir artisans is giving new life to waste materials, promoting sustainability, and fostering environmental consciousness. The Vishwakarma Kaushal Yojana, initiated by the Goa Government, is providing a platform for women to acquire skills in coir craftsmanship. Additionally, subsidies are being offered to assist them in purchasing machinery and establishing production units, thereby facilitating their connection with markets and paving the way for a self-reliant Goa.
Recognizing the significance of the developing coir industry in Goa, the government is celebrating the rich heritage and entrepreneurial spirit that define the artisan community. Various schemes, including the Vishwakarma Kaushalya Yojana, are being implemented to strengthen women artisans and entrepreneurs while promoting the establishment of dynamic and sustainable businesses.
The Goa Government’s initiatives are aimed at creating a sustainable ecosystem for the coir industry, encouraging economic growth, and empowering women in the artisan sector. By providing training, financial support, and market access, the government is nurturing talent and entrepreneurship, ultimately driving Goa towards self-sufficiency and prosperity.
