The female cheetah ‘Daksh’ brought from South Africa in Madhya Pradesh’s Kuno National Park was found by the monitoring team in a seriously injured condition on 09.05.2023 at 10.15 am. Veterinarians treated the female cheetah ‘Daksh’ but she tragically died at 12 noon the same day.
The wounds found on the body of the dead female cheetah appear to have been caused by violent contact with the male cheetah during an attempted mating. Such violent behavior of male cheetahs towards female cheetahs during mating is said to be normal. In such a situation, the possibility of interference by the monitoring team is negligible and practically impossible.
The autopsy of this dead female cheetah Daksh is being done by the veterinary team as per the protocol.
