India’s largest integrated power producer NTPC Limited has registered a growth of 148 per cent in production from its captive mines in April, 2023 as compared to the production recorded in April last year. NTPC recorded a coal production of 2.75 million metric tonnes (MMT) during the month of April 2023 as against 1.11 MMT recorded in the month of April 2022.

Its four operational coal mines – NTPC Pakri-Barwadih (Jharkhand), NTPC Chatti Bariatu (Jharkhand), NTPC Dulanga (Odisha) and NTPC Talaipalli (Chhattisgarh)

NTPC to record coal production of 23.2 million tonnes in FY23, up 65 per cent from 14.02 million tonnes a year ago.
Digitization initiatives by coal mining teams have helped in enhancing excellence in carrying out mining operations. The best practices have helped enhance safety in mining operations and have also initiated the adoption of e-SMP, a digital safety management plan, and Sachetan, a mobile app designed for safety.
NTPC Group has an installed capacity of 71,644 MW.
